Woodley Machine Knitting Club: February 2013

We were delighted to welcome 3 new prospective members, Flo, Ann and Margaret (all friends) that travelled together.

The meeting started with Mavis, pointing out that there is was a Sales Table with some members’ items for sale, also a ‘freebie table’ for members to help themselves to whatever appealed.

Mavis showed a Woodley Council leaflet which the Council had produced (at no charge to us) listing details of WMKC meetings under the Clubs & Activities section. Also on the subject of publicity, she has written to Anne Smith of Machine Knitting Monthly, in the hope of an article being published in the magazine at some stage. The piece was about the ‘servicing’ of a LK150 at our last Knit-in weekend. A photo (taken by Theresa) was included with the letter.

We then went to on to do our ‘Show and Tells”, where members show and talk about their knitted items.

Firstly, Beatriz presented samples and pictures and described the process of how she produced the amazing fabrics she was commissioned to machine knit. We hope to show some images here of the actual fabric and finished garment when and if we get approval from Beatriz’s client.
